Elizabeth Jolley Spratt born in Stretton, Cheshire met her future husband Robert John Spratt when he and two of his neighbours from Bath lodged whilst they worked the mines with Benjamin Jolley - Elizabeth's brother. Their father was also called Benjamin!
Elizabeth and Robert John had their first child Benjamin Jolley Spratt in 1894 in Budworth. They had moved to 64 Westminster Road by 1901 where Frank Percival had joined them in 1900 - were there other children in this 6 year gap? The rest of the family followed: Robert William 1901, George Gordon 1904 and Annie Kathleen in 1906. At some point they went to live at Vicarage Road, Hoole. At the end of their lives they moved to Portsmouth where their daughter Annie Kathleen Spratt Moffatt (Kath) took care of them.
In the 1911 Census (then living in Holyhead) it is stated that they had been married for 17 years with "5 children born alive, 5 children still living, and 0 children who have died". It is possible that there may have been stillborn children in that 6 year gap but none that died in infancy.
